Progress

It seems that many of you are cracking on really well with your research and planning, but you should all be moving towards the next stage - actually putting your ideas together based on your analysis of real media products! So, get storyboarding and drafting to see your ideas take shape.

Remember to keep your blogs up to date and to name any post that you are individually responsible for! You don't want someone else getting the credit for all of your hard work!

Those of you using scrapbooks still need some form of electronic record, even if it is just a list of tasks set and your own group deadlines.

Happy days!

The dawning of a new term!

Tis Sunday and the new term fast approaches and it's a big one for all of us! The count down to AS and A2 exams, so I thought I give you an overview of what to expect.

Let's start with A2 - you will continue with the Issues and Debates paper. This term the topic will be the magazine industry so you'd do well to get your hands on a magazine that interests you and that you will base your research and study on for the next few weeks.

We will introduce you to the Critical research paper - an individual piece of research on a topic of your choice (from a list of 9!). Your work will be monitored by one of us - Miss Ford for 13E and 13B2 and Mrs Horne for 13B1 with Ms Bolwell avaiable for help and advice along the way.

We will also be revising film genre and setting you a mock exam - what joy!

AS - with coursework out of the way we can now concentrate on New Media Technologies which will be essentially a piece of group research, presented back to the group.

There will be some extra sessions on Sitcom for those of you who missed sessions due to the demands of other courses - look out for those.

There will be revision lessons before the exams on Action/Adventure films and a mock exam on all of this - you lucky young people!

To top all of this off, we are introducing Film Club this term in conjunction with www.filmclub.org - this will initially target you guys and possibly years 10 and 11 - keep an eye out for the posters!

Oscar Evening 2008 is also fast approaching for Year 13 - invitations and details will be coming soon, so make sure you put the date in your diary.

A very busy time ahead of us, guys, but I am sure we can finish the year with smiles on our faces.

Blog day 2

Well even though I showed this to some A level students their lack of excitement underwhelms me! No additions?!* what is the world coming to? Apathetic A level Media Students? Surely not?

"Put our work on there and then we will show an interest!" Are you really that shallow?

it's been a nightmare day so far - desperate to show the ending of Unforgiven in a room where we can actually see proved more than a little difficult. The hall seemed to offer the best solution but could we get the sound to work? Could we heck as like! Oh well, these things are sent to try us and at least I get to end my teaching day by showing Two Pints of Lager which we will be abe to see - no moody, atmospheric lighting in Runcorn! Speaking of which - a reminder of the ending of Fags, Shags and Kebabs!
